Chaetozone Kaplan spA

Family:
Cirratulidae
Genus:
Chaetozone
Species binomial name, or informal name:
Chaetozone Kaplan spA
Taxonomy:
Chaetozone
Authority:
Gordon Paterson
Description:

Prostomium pointed indented to give an acute point, tip rounded. Peristomium longer than wide. Width of 1st CH = 0.24 mm. Palps situated near junction of 1st Ch about two palp widths separation. 5 thoracic CH, widest near abdomen, then CH become cylindirical and more elongated. Chaetae mostly short (≤ 2CH), modified banana-shaped chaetae found from proximal abdominal Ch, modified chaetae not forming cinctures. Pygidium rounded with anus either dorsal or ventral but not terminal.
Notes: This specimen resembles Specimen KP230. Both are nominally considered to be Chaetozone because of the shape of the prostomium and the presence of banana-shaped chaetae. However, the absence of cinctures or similar arrangements of chaetae mean that this generic definition must be reviewed.
